Dear Aunt Madeleine and Family,

We pray God is giving you strength and comfort over the days and weeks since Uncle Francis left the earth to spend eternity in Heaven with the others.

We know how sad, difficult, and busy each day is after you lose a loved one. You want life and time to stand still. It seems like there is no time to grieve, and adjust to the numbness of never seeing your loved one on earth again. Instead, you are stuck making big, important decisions, while you are still in shock, and cannot think straight.

We wanted to give you a few weeks for things to settle down before sending a sympathy card, but we did not mean for this much time to lapse. Please know we are keeping the whole family in our prayers. It seems like there is a big void in life when you lose someone you love. It is hard to get used to a new normal, because nothing seems normal anymore.

Please know how much we admire the endurance, positive attitude, and hope Francis held on to for such a lengthy time throughout his terrible illness. We also appreciate all the help Francis got from family and friends. We will continue to keep you and the rest of the family in our daily thoughts and prayers.

Maddy and Family so sorry on Francis I sure had many good times with you and Francis at camp. I will never forget the game he built and I sure had a lot of fun playing it with you people. Francis sure was a lot of fun and could make you laugh. Francis went threw a lot and was very strong he did very well. He will be missed! We wish we could be there for you and the Family Maddy but we cant so our thoughts are with you and the family.

I remember that Uncle Francis was so much fun for us kids to be around. At his cookouts, I think he had as much fun as we did.
He also seemed to lose Aunt Madeline a lot.

We will miss your warmth and compassion, your sense of humor, and your youthful spirit. You leave behind lots of wonderful family memories playing your guitar and mandolin at the camp. There's sure to be another hootenanny in heaven! Thank you for showing us true strength of character, dignity and grace through a difficult illness. Dear Madeleine and Family,
We are so sorry to hear about Francis passing away. He is now in God's hands, with no more suffering.
As I reflect back, I remember in my younger days, going to visit in Gilman. Being all about the same age, Francis, Walter, Joe and I used to play together, go down to the river, in front of their house, and fish, (never caught anything), and then to the little store, by their house, to buy ice cream. At night, we all slept up in the attic and talked and laughed, until we went to sleep.
The last time I saw you and Francis, was on a visit to Gilman, with Jacie and my sister Ann. I was pleased to hear that you and Francis had bought the house that my Dad had built and the first home I lived in.
We will keep you and your family in our prayers and asked the good Lord to give you the strength to get through these difficult times.
