A native of Meriden CT, Gerry was born to loving parents, Mary Curylo (Balasa) and Stanislaus Curylo where they made their home along with his older sister Dolores. He proudly served his country in Japan and Korea as an Air Force Sergeant from 1951-1953. Gerry received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Connecticut in 1956. Our Dad had an unmatched curiosity for life and thirst for knowledge evidenced by his illustrious career working for Underwood Typewriter in CT, Bay State Abrasives in ME, Ford Motor Co in NJ, and as a Special Projects Engineer for General Electric in Plainville, CT from which he retired in 1986. His creativity resulted in receiving several U.S. patents. He designed and built a summer cottage in Madison, CT where we spent most of our summer weekends growing up. His hobbies and interests were numerous including boating, motorcycling, playing the piano, guitar, drums, singing, and Toastmasters. As a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary from 1990 to 2009, he was elected Flotilla Commander; crew certified, vessel examiner, teaching boating safety during retirement. His greatest joy was being a fun-loving, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather surrounded by his family and pets. Gerry was a devoted Catholic and member of the Knights of Columbus and Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Lantana, FL. His faith in God was a gift to all of us. A Catholic Mass will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Lantana, FL on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at 10:00 am.
