Aniela Grzybek Maciolek's Obituary
Aniela (Grzybek) Maciolek, 93, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2014 in Atlantis, Florida, in the presence of her children. She was predeceased by her parents, Jozef and Wiktoria Grzybek, originally from Poland, by her brother, Walter, and her sisters, Mary and Katherine. She was also predeceased by her husband, Theodore Maciolek. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Eckel (and her husband, John) and Betty Maciolek, by her son, Thomas Maciolek (and his wife, Elizabeth), her grandsons, Joshua and Jeremy Eckel and Geoffrey Maciolek, her step-grandsons, Carleton and Scott Coffrin, and her greatgrandchildren, Jackson and Aniela Eckel.
Aniela was born in Manchester, New Hampshire, where she met and married Theodore and where she lived most of her life. She was a long-time employee of the Manchester Savings Bank and the Manchester National Bank. When Theodore became disabled, they moved briefly to Gainesville, Florida, where she worked for the Sun Trust Company. They soon moved to Dothan, Alabama, where Aniela volunteered for the Red Cross and the Southeast Alabama Medical Center. After her husband’s death, Aniela moved to Boynton Beach, Florida, her final home. Aniela was devoted to her children, to her grandchildren, and to her great-grandchildren, and she was a faithful friend to many. She had a lovely soprano voice, and in her teen years she starred in operettas at Manchester Central High School. She later sang in the choir and soloed in church, sang at weddings, and sometimes sang at other public events. She encouraged and supported her children in their educations and in their creative pursuits. She was an avid reader. Politically active in Manchester, she remained deeply interested in cultural and political affairs until her final days. She was a compassionate person who believed in the equality of all people. She will be missed by all who knew her. Her family members suggest that those who miss her may honor her with a memorial contribution to the charities of their choice.
