Barry Sasser's Obituary
Barry Lynn Sasser, 68, passed September 27, 2021 in his home surrounded by his family and fur babies after losing a vigilant battle with rapidly progressive dementia. Barry is survived by his wife of 49 years Joyce Busby Sasser, sons; Jeremy Sasser, West Palm Beach, Todd Sasser (Laurie), Naples, FL. Grandchildren Kayla Sasser and Conway Sasser, Naples, FL and his brothers; Jerry (Jan) Sasser, Hawkinsville, GA and Robert (Suzanne) Warner Robins, GA.
Barry was born February 23, 1953 in West Palm Beach, FL, a native of Palm Beach County, often saying “Why live anywhere else?” Barry grew up hunting with his dad west of Loxahatchee and fishing the lakes, rivers and intercoastal before any thought to develop these lands. Mangroves offered great fishing spots. Palm Beach County was a great place to grow up. Barry graduated from Palm Beach Gardens High School in 1971.
While working at Publix Supermarkets in high school, Barry met then married his lifelong love, Joyce Busby. During their 49 delightful years together, they shared a love of movies, international traveling and cruises. They visited many places across the globe. After raising two boys and 4 dogs they were ready to explore more exotic locations. His Travel Bags were always pack and ready to explore. Barry’s affection for music lives on in his oldest son and his aptitude for technology in his youngest son.
Barry worked at Bellsouth/AT&T retiring after 43 years. He spent his first 13 years in field installation and repair. His last 20 years were spent at the Palm Beach County courthouse and adjoining Governmental Center maintaining their elite telecom system. The Courthouse and Government Center presented Barry a special award for outstanding service at his retirement ceremony.
Barry is preceded in death by his father PFC William C Sasser (1923-1991) and mother Gloria W Sasser (1927-2001) m 1946.
A Celebration of Life will be held 2-4pm on October 17 in Lantana, FL. Refreshments will be served. A video remembrance will be available to record stories, thoughts or condolences at the celebration with his family.
Barry will be interred with his parents at Hillview Memorial Park, 1926 Hillabee St. Alexander City, AL 35010, on October 22, 2021.
