Derek Christian Hansen's Obituary
Derek Christian Hansen entered into rest at the age of 42 on February 26, 2017 in Boca Raton, FL. Derek was born to Karen Quist and George Hansen on November 20, 1974 in Bryn Mawr, PA. Derek attended Radnor High School, graduating Class of 1992. Upon graduation he had the opportunity to study abroad at the Instituto Allende in San Miguel De Allende, Mexico for a year before attending college. Derek attained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Wittenberg University in 1998.
Derek displayed a natural talent for sales and relationships as an Account Executive, in both technical and retail fields. After college, he worked for 5 years in Philadelphia selling products to aerospace and automotive industries. In 2004 Derek relocated to sunny Boca Raton, FL. In 2009 he married Amy Seifert, and they were married until 2013. He spent 10 years in publishing, providing printed reference materials nationwide. For the past 3 years he used his talents in the safety apparel industry. In a career spanning from 1999 to present day, Derek achieved top sales figures and broke company records almost every year for his employers.
When Marcy Mitchell came into Derek's life, a lot changed. He became Daddy Derek to Marcy's daughter, Emma. In December 2015 Marcy and Derek were blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Elizabeth Anne Hansen. He adored his baby girl Ellie and she meant the world to him. Aside from his beloved girls and dog Riley, Derek enjoyed classic and modern sports cars. He is survived by spouse Marcy, daughters Emma, 7, and Ellie, 1, mother Karen Algatt, step-mother Roslyn Hansen, step-father Jeff Algatt, sisters Merritt and Kerry Hansen, and brother Trevor and Jamison Algatt. He is preceded in death by his father George Hansen, and sister Tara Hansen.
