Donald R. Crandall's Obituary
Donald Richard Crandall went home to be with the Lord the morning of July 3, 2021 at Abbey Delray South at age 84. He was born in February 1937 in Binghamton, NY. to Rev. Richard & Ruby Crandall. His loving wife Elaine preceded him in death in 2015. He is survived by daughters Chris Crandall Jacomine & Laura Crandall-Hirsch & her husband Ted Hirsch; grandchildren Ryan Jacomine & Jennifer Anderson and 5 great-grandchildren.
Don was a lifelong Deacon and was always an active member of the church. For years he was involved with the church choir, musical ensemble groups and the puppet ministry as well as often driving the church bus.
In 1958, he married Elaine and they had 2 daughters. In 1968, the family transferred from Binghamton, NY to Boca Raton, FL with IBM. In later years they moved to a home Don designed in Boynton Beach, FL.
As a senior in high school, Don was recruited by IBM to join them after graduation. They were interested in a plan he had for an Automatic Transistor Analyzer, which he successfully made for them. He continued with IBM for 38 years. He later became an independent contractor for various companies, eventually working at JTech for many years developing the transmitter system for restaurant pagers.
He loved children and was a wonderful grandpa and great-grandpa. The dearest of men, he will be sorely missed. But we know he is in a joyous new life now.
The family would like to thank the staff of Abbey Delray South and TrustBridge/Hospice by the Sea for the wonderful care he received in his final days.
