Edmund Alfred Demberg's Obituary
EDMUND DEMBERG Edmund Demberg passed away on August 6, 2010 at the age of 81. He was born in Brooklyn, NY where he grew up with his parents and older brother "Sonny". He attended Boys High where his friends say "he was the brilliant and funny one" He played soccer there and achieved all city status. Ed graduated from City College of New York with a scientific degree in 1952. That lead him to his first and only job at Picatinny Arsenal in Rockaway, NJ where he stayed for 35 years. Ed became a expert in munitions safety and traveled all over the world from Alaska to Panama perfecting safe techniques in transporting explosives. He was a loving father to his three children who called Wharton, NJ home and to his cherished wife, Bernice, who passed in 2001. Ed was a bowler, a golfer and a high school basketball referee. He, also, worked at Dover Lanes Bowling alley and wrote newspaper articles on Bowling. Ed was the life of the party, whether the attendees were his work buddies, golfing friends, local neighbors or the college friends of his grandson.. everyone loved his stories and jokes. Ed and Bernice traveled the world and retired to Lake Worth, FL in 1985. He was a proud Dad to daughter Randi Demberg of Rockville, MD (Allen Orenberg) and sons Paul Demberg (Susan) of Langhorne, PA and Seth Demberg of Alexandria, VA. He loved his grandkids, Andrew, Lauren and Julie; and his brother Irwin "Sonny" and Shirley of Ft. Collins, CO; his nieces, Lara, Caryl, Lisa, Barbara; and nephews Jay and Josh; and his pen pal, his great niece Olivia. For his extended family, golfing partners, bridge pals, snow bird buddies, neighbors and friends, Ed will be greatly missed. Burial will take place Monday, August 9 at 11:30 AM at Palm Beach Memorial Park, 3691 Seacrest Boulevard, Lantana 33462, (561) 585-1237.
