Mrs. Ella Louise Wakefield Sicard's Obituary
Ella Louise Wakefield Sicard of West Palm Beach, Florida passed away on November 10, 2014 after a brief illness. She was born May 22, 1919 in Richmond, Virginia. During the depression her family moved to Florida. She graduated from Florida State University and went on to serve in France as a 1st Lieutenant in the Army’s 95th General Hospital during World War II. After her military service, Ella retired from a 35 year career as a registered dietician with the Veterans Administration Hospital in Bedford, Massachusetts. Her husband of 34 years, Edward Sicard, survives her. She joins her beloved son, Anthony Chaput, who predeceased her in death. She is survived by her sister Dilla Lyon of Raleigh, North Carolina, son Philip (Estelle) Chaput of Lowell, MA , daughter Terri (Steven) Levine of Cary, NC, grandsons Benjamin Chaput, Nathan Chaput, Thomas Joseph Chaput, Jeffrey Levine, and granddaughters Naomi Levinthal and Sally Ella Sherrard. She was the proud great grandmother of her four great-grandchildren: Joseph Levinthal, Ava Levinthal, Ben Chaput, and Faye Ella Chaput. She leaves behind a wonderful legacy of life, laughter, and fond memories to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and dear friends. Ella raised her family in Lowell, Massachusetts and also lived in Sudbury, Massachusetts for several years before relocating to West Palm Beach, Florida. She was an avid bridge player, seamstress, gardener, and crafter. Until recently she knitted for Warmth for Warriors, a volunteer organization that distributes homemade hats to veterans and active duty soldiers overseas. She loved helping others and adored her family. All who knew her will sorely miss her hearty laugh, signature welcome (“Yoo-Hoo”), positive outlook, sharp wit, and energy. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at the South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 South State Road 7, Lake Worth, Florida 33449, (561) 649-6489 on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at 2:15 PM with the United States Army presenting Military Honors to the Family of Ella Louise Wakefield Sicard. Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made in her memory to the charity of your choice.
