Emma J. Bracey's Obituary
Emma J. Bracey died Friday, the 9th of December in Loxahatchee, Florida.Born March 24, 1920 to Richard and Nellie Johns, in Lattimer Mines, PA, she was the youngest of three girls. She graduated from McCann School of Business in 1939 and worked as a secretary for Hazleton Chapter Red Cross. While working for the Red Cross, she intercepted a letter from a soldier, Chester J. Bracey, who would then become her husband on June 3, 1944.
Emma volunteered much of her time tutoring children at local elementary schools and was eventually hired as a Teacher’s Aid at Rolling Green Elementary School in Boynton. She worked up until just a few months shy of her 75th birthday. She loved her family and will be remembered for all of her sacrifices and her selfless heart that was always giving and caring. She is survived by her daughter, Lucretia (Tisa) Bracey-Guthrie-(husband Eric,) grandchildren Chester Unks, Angela LaBelle, Michael Watson, Amanda Vasile, and Daniel Vasile, great grandchildren Ashley and Emily LaBelle, Jacob and Ally Boynton. Memorial service will be held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, December 20th, at Palms West Alliance Church, 16401 Southern Blvd. Loxahatchee, FL 33470.
