Florence S. Dyer's Obituary
Florence Somerville Dyer passed away peacefully on December 26, 2016 at the Boynton Beach Health Care Center at the age of 94. She was born on August 16, 1922 in Kingston Jamaica to Levi Wilmot and Mabel Scarlet. She was married to Cleveland S Dyer in 1955 and they both have been inseparable for nearly 74 years.
Florence worked for many years at the Jamaica Knitting Mills and continued her love for sewing at home upon early retirement. Sewing at home allowed her to raise her two sons, Courtney and Fitzroy and developed a strong bond with her step daughter, Elaine. After, her passion for sewing was fulfilled, she traveled many times to visit the United States before earning her Certificate of Naturalization on February 23rd, 1988. Florence is God fearing and was an active member in the Lyndhurst Methodist Church in Kingston Jamiaca.
Florence leaves behind many family and friends. Foremost among the family are her husband Cleveland S Dyer, Fitzroy Dyer, and Courtney Dyer, ; daughter in laws Carol Dyer, Althea Dyer, and Christine Gurganus, Step-daughter Elaine: grandchildren Camille Dyer, Keisha Dyer-Hawkins, Jacque Dyer, Nikeisha Dyer, Courtney Dyer Jr, Patricia Mathis ; great grandchildren Shawn Dyer, Corey Dyer, Shaniece Dyer, Roland St. Victor; nieces Carol Stamp , Colleen Meliphant-Sanders; nephews Devon Aspinell and Donavan Stamp.
