Grace Cunningham Rockett Mercer, loving mother, grandmother, sister, nurse, and devoted friend, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026, in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. She was born on June 23, 1949, in Ossining, New York.
Grace lived a life rooted in compassion, service, and deep love for family. A dedicated nurse and caregiver, she was guided by her passion for helping others. Nursing was not just her profession — it was part of who she was. She had a natural gift for caring and touched countless lives through her kindness, patience, and steady presence.
Grace was first married to James Rockett, with whom she shared two children, Damon and Leanne. She later found love again with her beloved husband, Chuck Mercer, and together they explored the world, traveling overseas to Switzerland, Paris, and China — memories she held close to her heart. Grace endured profound loss with the passing of her cherished daughter, Leanne, whose absence remained forever etched in her soul. Chuck preceded Grace in death in June 2017.
Grace found joy in simple pleasures and treasured moments with family and friends. She absolutely loved cats and enjoyed collecting, QVC shopping, and surrounding herself with the things that brought her comfort and happiness.
She is survived by her son, Damon Rockett (Ellie); her grandson, Chance Rockett (Nichole); and her step-granddaughter, Kaitlin Buechel (Eric); along with her sisters, Jeannie Ogden (Kevin) and Laurie Porter (Mike) and by extended family and dear friends whose lives she touched.
A private service will be held in Switzerland for Grace and Chuck in May.
