On August 27, 2018, God called one of His servants, Helen McKenzie Sloan, home from labor to rest. Helen was born on November 27, 1938 in West Palm Beach, Florida to the late Reverend Felix McKenzie and Winifred F. McKenzie. She was called home to be with the Lord and her Savior Jesus Christ at Treasure Coast Hospice.
She attended local public schools in Palm Beach County and graduated from Carver High School in Delray Beach, Florida in 1956. She later started her schooling in the nursing field.
She was a nurse for many years and an office manager at a Doctor’s office. Also, during her time as a nurse, she helped deliver many babies at a local doctor’s office in Boynton Beach. She was once called the neighborhood nurse because of the people that knew her from the medical field.
She was a faithful member of the Boynton Beach Church of God-House of Kingdom Worship, under the leadership of Bishop Kenneth B. Jones and Reverend Chiquita Rolle Jones. Mother Helen Sloan held various positions within the church which she loved doing. Her beautiful bright smile and her willingness to always want to help and give will be greatly missed by many.
She leaves to cherish many loving memories one son: Lloyd Sloan (Nicole); two daughters: the late Lydia Sloan-Smith and Cheryl Sloan; 9 grandchildren: Che’Lese Sloan, TaChara Jerkins, Bernard Jerkins, Jr. (Sherrell), Michael Edwards, II (Tamar), Jasmine Cooper (Kenneth), Ghamarra Holoman, Givonni Holoman, Gionni Holoman, Hannah Sloan; 19 great grandchildren: LaDe’ja Martin, T’aja Sinkfield, Devyn Gibbs, Stefan Hollis, Chyna McNeil, K’mari Jerkins, Bernard Jerkins, III, Radell Jerkins, Lydiah Edwards, Laniah, Edwards, Gary Blake, III, Lyric Bronson, London Bronson, Xavier Hood, Aysia Hood, Miracle Hood, Lanard Hood, Kenea Cooper and Kenard Cooper; and two very special godsons: Marlon Pinder and Johnny Bulger.
