I met Helen when I was in 5th grade. She and her children were neighbors. Her daughter, Faina and I became fast friends and are still the best of friends. I am so sorry for the loss to Faina's family. She was one of the most wonderful people in my life. You could say that I saw her as a hero. She raised her 3 children primarily alone and worked so hard to earn her master's degree and become a teacher. In an era when there were very few single parents, she was amazing. As a child I was impressed by her sweetness that persisted throughout her life. She was artistic, intelligent, logical, generous and benevolent. She made great cookies too! She was not in the least judgemental and had a strong faith in God. I only hope that I could be 1/2 the woman she was. She will be very missed by those who loved and admired her. I know she is in heaven and at peace. Love to all of you in the family. - Anne (Pyle) LaFleur
