Mr. Henry "Harry" S. Cahill's Obituary
Henry Sullivan “Harry” Cahill, age 98 of South Palm Beach, passed away at his home on May 4, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Eleanor Maher Cahill at home; his son Thomas Cahill (Susan) of Commack, NY; his daughter Nancee Cahill-Barney (Rodney) of Walker, WV; 5 grandchildren, Eileen Gallant (Jeff) of Massapequa, NY, Daniel Cahill and John Cahill of Farmingdale, NY, Allison Ferguson (Paul) of Crown City, OH and Aran Barney of Walker, WV. Harry is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren, Emily and Audrey Ferguson, and Brayden and Cavan Gallant. He was preceded in death by his parents Daniel Cahill, Nellie Cahill Flemming and Patrick Flemming, 1 brother Daniel Cahill and 3 sisters, Eileen Lukas, Peggy Cahill, and Sheila Sausse. Harry was employed from the time he was 13 in Dunwoody NY, finishing school at night with honors. He also served in the US Army Financial Services during WWII as a Staff Sergeant and at the Brooklyn Savings Bank where he met Eleanor. He retired from the Home Insurance Co of New York after 30 years. A lifelong practicing Catholic, Harry retired to Florida to pursue his passion for golf 33 years ago and was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. A visitation will be held Tuesday from 7-9 PM at the funeral home. A funeral mass will be conducted Wednesday, 11:00 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1000 Lantana Road, Lantana, FL. Burial will take place following the service at the South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth, FL with military honors. Remembrances can be made to Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Lantana, in support of their youth ministries or to Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33407.
