Janet Margaret Barclay's Obituary
Janet Barclay went to be with the Lord on May 6, 2025. She was born in New Jersey on June 13, 1935. Janet is predeceased by Mildred and Edward Toussaint. She spent many years as the office manager of the Home Improvement Department at Sears Roebuck, retiring to Florida where she spent the latter years of her life. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Theodore Barclay III. She is also survived by her children and their spouses, Antoinette and Anthony Agresta, Theodore and Michelle Barclay, Donald and Sharon Helmer, and James Helmer, and her many beloved grandchildren.
In her younger years, Janet volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader and Den Mother, and in her later years, she volunteered with a local museum for a time. She was a devout Catholic who was a member of the Council of Catholic Women (CCW) at Saint Matthew Catholic Church. Her local involvements also included some time as the president of the Barefoot Quilters, where she shared her award-winning work with family and friends.
Janet always valued time with family, making many trips up the east coast and welcoming visitors to her home with a smile and a hug. Her trips could extend even further with Janet and Theodore taking great pleasure in cruises through Aruba, Alaska, England, Bahamas, Brazil, France, and more.
Janet will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A visitation for Janet will be held Sunday, May 11, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Palm Beach Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 3691 N. Seacrest Blvd, Lantana, FL 33462. The service will be held Monday, May 12, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Saint Matthew Catholic Church, 6090 Hypoluxo Rd, Lake Worth, FL 33463. A graveside service will immediately follow at Palm Beach Memorial Funeral Home.
