Jean MacKilligan's Obituary
Jean (Geary) MacKilligan was born on March 25, 1928 at The Cameron Hospital in Wakefield, Massachusetts and passed away on September 10, 2013 in Florida. She was predeceased by her parents, Francis V. Geary and Evelyn F. (Lefave) Geary. Jean was a loving, kind woman who was devoted to her family. She always had a kind word for everyone and was well loved by all those who came to know her. She always had a warm smile and it was a comfort to be in her presence. Her survivors include her two devoted sons, William MacKilligan and his wife Dr. Kristine Bertini of Kennebunk, Maine and Robert Geary MacKilligan and his partner, Jesse D. Durko of Davie, Florida. She is also survived by her four dedicated granddaughters, Kellsy MacKilligan of Boston, Massachusetts; Courtney Alling and her husband, Eric Alling of Colchester, Vermont; Mimi and Jade MacKilligan of Kennebunk, Maine; and her brother Francis (Frank) Geary of Wakefield, Massachusetts. Jean graduated from Wakefield High School in 1947. Jean married Howard J. MacKilligan of Greenwood Massachusetts on January 16, 1948. Howard passed away on May 7, 2012. They were married for 66 years. Jean had numerous accomplishments. She worked full time while raising her two sons. She was the Past President of several organizations including: The Dandelions of Reading Massachusetts, The Reading Massachusetts Women’s Club, and The Reading Memorial HS Scholarship Foundation. She was both a Cub Scout Den Mother and a Brownie Leader. Jean was also a Reading Town Meeting member for 20 years and she volunteered with the elderly at Tannerville for many years. Jean worked as First (Lead) Supervisor of the ATM Department at Malden Trust Company in Massachusetts from 1978 until 1989; she was instrumental in setting up the first ATM at Malden Hospital in Massachusetts. Jean retired from Malden Trust on Feb 17, 1989. She moved to Florida with her husband in 2002.
