Leah Omenn's Obituary
Leah Omenn, a resident of Boynton Beach since 1979 and a dedicated Life Member of Hadassah, passed away on May 19 at the age of 95. She grew up in Chester, Pennsylvania, and graduated pre-med from Temple University and taught science at Chester High School until her marriage. She assisted her husband, Leonard Omenn DDS, MPH, and raised two sons, Gilbert of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Neil of Boynton Beach. She brought an outstanding intellect, a love of music, and a devotion to community interests to her many friendships and her work with Hadassah. She created the Dr. Leonard Omenn and Leah Omenn Program in Community Dentistry at the Hadassah Medical Center/Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Besides her sons, she is survived by daughter-in-law Martha Darling in Ann Arbor, by grandchildren Rachel Omenn Anderson (Steve) and Jason Omenn (Amy) in Seattle and David Omenn in Los Angeles, and by great-grandchildren Jacob, Nicholas, Kelsey, Larkin, and Emma in Seattle. She loved her trips to Seattle to be with the great-grandchildren, including a family trip to Alaska celebrating her 90th birthday. She was anticipating going to Seattle this summer and to Israel for the Centennial of Hadassah this October. She took an interest in everyone she met and had a loving, caring approach to all. Chapel Services will be held at Palm Beach Memorial Park, 3691 Seacrest Blvd, Lantana (1/2 mile south of Hypoluxo Road), on Thursday May 24 at 2:00 PM, followed by a reception at Temple Torah 8600 Jog Road, Boynton Beach (at Gateway and Jog Road).
