Leslie Edward Perkins' Obituary
Leslie Edward Perkins Jr., 91, of Lantana, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2026.
He lived in Upton, Massachusetts, before moving to Florida after the Blizzard of 1978. He was the beloved husband of the late Jane A. (Nordborg) Perkins, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage. He was predeceased by his parents, Leslie E. Perkins Sr. and Beatrice (Negus) Perkins; his brother, David Perkins of Upton, Massachusetts; his son, James Perkins; and his daughter, Rebecca Winters. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Rice, as well as several relatives, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He worked for many years as an electrician at The Draper Corporation, a textile loom company in Hopedale, Massachusetts. After moving to Florida, he became a self-employed electrician.
Les could make, repair, or build nearly anything. He built the family home in Massachusetts by hand, using old stagecoach wood and other materials he had gathered over the years. Without blueprints or formal plans, he taught himself along the way. He loved taking things apart and putting them back together just to understand how they worked.
He enjoyed many hobbies, including canoeing, camping, kayaking, coin collecting, metal detecting, gardening, dancing, visiting yard sales, and collecting treasures. He and Jane enjoyed square dancing together for many years. He was also a member of the Pack and Paddle Club of West Palm Beach, the Palm Beach Coin Club, and the Florida Metal Detecting Club—always hoping to strike it rich!
