Louis J. DeStefano's Obituary
Louis was such a dear friend to so many people. He was outgoing and made friends wherever he went. Besides being loving, loyal and generous to his family, his friends were treated exactly the same. He was always supportive and was there to help in any way he could. He had a big heart and showed it through his actions. The way Louis cared for his mother Phyllis showed what a wonderful son he was – there was no one better. We also need to recognize Dawn who has been by Louis’s side for so many years, helping him with his mom and anything else that came along. We can be pretty sure that his mother lived several years longer due to their love and care.
Louis loved life especially in West Palm Beach where he could be outside and active. He loved people and enjoyed everything life had to offer. He loved being host to numerous dinner parties and holiday get togethers where everyone shared great times. Nothing pleased him more than to share his “daily joke for the day”. His love for the music of his favorite performers led to him gathering groups of his friends to go to concerts by Mick Jagger, Bruce Springsteen and Fleetwood Mac to name a few. Appetizers were at his house followed by dinner and the show…… all on him. Who does that?
Aside from music, Louis loved reading, exercising and his favorite team, the New York Yankees. Louis and wanted to live life to the fullest. He enjoyed healthy activities and loved his daily yoga classes with friends. He told everyone about eating healthy because he cared about them so much. Many of us would hide food so he wouldn’t see it, knowing that if he found it, he would be lecturing us on healthy eating. Animals were another one of Louis’s soft spots so much so that he had a statue of St. Francis erected by his pool. We know that his precious dogs Spanky and Mikey were excitedly waiting for him at Rainbow Bridge to be reunited. Phyllis we’re sure was there with open arms.
Louis loved his town, his church, his country and was very involved in his community. They were very fortunate to have had his guidance for his time in administration and for his generous donation of Tranquility Park in his mother Phyllis’s name.
We are all so saddened by his passing and know that Louis will be truly missed by all of his lifelong friends, his community friends and his family. The world has lost one of the really good guys.
The family of Louis DeStefano requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to Tranquility Park. Monies will be used for the continual upkeep and maintenance of the park. Louis and his mother Phyllis both found peace within the park. Please make checks to Town of Manalapan/Tranquility Park, 600 S. Ocean Blvd., Manalapan, Florida 33462.
