Margarita Nichols' Obituary
Margarita Wilson Nichols, age 93, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 29, 2020. She was a resident of Lantana for the past 37 years. Margarita, a beautiful young lady, was born September 3, 1926 in Santiago, Cuba. She attended the Sacred Heart School, near Santiago, from grade school through high school. She was introduced to her husband, Elmer Nichols, by her father, and soon married on August 4, 1947. Together they raised four children living an adventuresome life in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Rota, Spain and Naples, Italy. Margarita had a passion for music and singing in chorus where she was often the lead vocalist, as she sang so beautifully. She also played the guitar well. Through her years she would share her gift of singing and guitar playing with family, friends, and for social events. In her prime she will be remembered as being a great mom, a woman of strong faith in God, and a devout Catholic. She could often be heard saying, “ Did you read the ten commandments today? An ounce of prevention, is worth a pound of cure, and keep a song in your heart! “ We miss and love you mom.
Margarita was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Nichols, her oldest child, Margarita Simmons, and her granddaughter, Tamara Simmons. She is survived by her sons, Ed Nichols (Mary) and Bill Nichols (Donna), her daughter, Linda Dusty (Jim), and her brother, Guillermo (Mito) Wilson. Her grandchildren, Elizabeth Simmons, Sundra Hines, Tara Liera, Laura Robinson, Ed Nichols, Andy Dusty, Bill Nichols, and Alisha Dusty and great grandchildren, Justin Simmons, Neva Hines and Ryder Hines, also survive her.
