“The Minz” will surely be missed. I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Marvin since the 1970’s. A fond recollection is that “Minz” had a sign, framed on the wall of his office at “21” Brands, which read “I don’t need a desk … I delegate everything”. He was a master of delegation and his daily workload reflected that sentiment but at the end of the day the to-do list was complete.
After working together at “21” brands for many years I became a supplier and discovered that Marvin was also a gourmet who loved to be hosted for lunch at the finest restaurants in Manhattan. As a thank you after many years of dining, Marvin presented me with a framed display of matchbooks from every restaurant we frequented. The inscription read “Thank you for many fine feasts”. However, the most meaningful thanks I received was his friendship and loyalty.
Following his formal retirement, Marvin seemed to get busier; enjoying life with Johanna and his artwork and many entrepreneurial endeavors. When we last spoke in late 2022, Marvin was very excited and putting the finishing touches on his biggest invention ever. I hope that someone is continuing to move that project forward.
My condolences to Marvin’s family. Marvin loved you all so very much !
