Mary Barbara Smith Siciak Poss
5-5-1924 ~ 1-22-2021(age 96)
A faithful member of Espiritu Santo Catholic Church, Barb Poss (nickname Little Girl) went to be with her Heavenly father on Friday, January 22, 2021. Barbara was born at Old Georgetown Hospital in Washington DC on May 5, 1924. She is preceded in death by her parents; Ed Smith and Helen Potter and sister Agnes Dix.
Barbara spent the majority of her life in the DC Metropolitan area where she attended grade school at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic School and then graduated from The Academy of the Holy Cross in 1942. She worked for the Justice Department Bureau of Prisons where she met her late first husband Walter Siciak, they married on September 28th 1946 and together raised their 5 children until Walter’s death on August 15th, 1960. On January 27th, 1964, she then married Charlie Poss, they relocated to sunny Clearwater, FL where they enjoyed their beautiful life together.
Barbara was known for her love and dedication to her family, friends and the Catholic Church. She was an active member of the World Clown Association (2006 Clown of the Year), 2002 Regent Catholic Daughters of America and a Eucharistic Minister. A talented storyteller and cook, she also enjoyed performing magic tricks just to see people smile. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
Barbara is survived by her 5 children Ann Siciak, Cecelia Brack, Anthony Siciak, Bobi Siciak, and Walter Siciak II; 9 grandchildren, 12 great-children and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
