On that propitious day of June 1971, I went to a house in Accra Newtown, Ghana to deliver a message to the owner of the house.
To my utter shock and disbelief I met a young pretty lady who instantly turned my life Topsy turvy. I later lent in life from the young lady that her mother had confided in her that she (the mother) saw me in her dreams years back as her (the young lady's) husband.
Limata Abena Weller was born on Tuesday the 9th of June 1953 in the centre of Accra near Cow Lane Street.
Her father was Alhaji Beacher Abudu Weller and the mother, Kasin Fatima Weller.
At the time I met Limata Abena Weller I was a career officer of the External Intelligence Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ghana.
Our liaisons blossomed until her family from the the Waale clan of Lambussie and my Berrin clan also of Lambussie supervised our marriage in June 1972. We are of the Sissala tribe from Upper West Region of Ghana.
In my area marriage is a union between the family of the wife and that of the husband.
I fondly called my wife Martha while she called me Yuri.
Before my departure on diplomatic postings to Lebanon in October of 1972 I got a diplomatic passport for my wife with the name Mrs Limata Yuri Baawine.
Martha, as I lovingly called her, completed school in 1973 and joined me in Lebanon in October of that year. I enrolled Martha at the Fashion Design School of Lebanon where she earned a diploma. I also paid for her tuition at the Acadia Academy of Beirut where she earned a Diploma in Computer Programming. She studied the following Computer languages; Fortran 4, RPG and COBOL.
Martha was a very well organized and loving wife.
Our first child, McCharna Baawine was delivered at the American University Hospital of Beirut in February 1975.The Paediatrician was Dr Mufaridge.
Our second son, Nento Baawine, was born in Cairo, Egypt in 1976 while daughter Haifa Baawine was born in Jeddah Saudi Arabia. Our last son Christopher Baawine was also born in Jeddah.
Our union as husband and wife was a blessed one. I had rapid promotions as a Career Diplomat and at 33, I was the Head of a Ghana Embassy abroad.
Genesis 2:24 says if a man holds fast onto his wife they will become one flesh. And when the two of them in one accord seek, they will find. If they knock, it will open. And when the two of them ask, it will be given to them
My wife, Martha, was highly spiritually developed. We communicated effectively without speaking. I could be miles away from her and just by holding a thought and projecting it to her, I would come home and what I wanted would be done. Remember there were no mobile phones at the time.
Whatever I wanted done, once she agreed with me, it would manifest almost instantly. We were relatively wealthy at the time and had property both in London and Accra Ghana. We also rode the choiciest vehicles at the time.
We returned to Ghana on the 13th of April 1985. I brought home a lot of Beauty Therapy Equipment and sold a Mazda Long-Bed vehicle to set up House of Prestige Beauty Centre. My wife Martha drove the best vehicle in Ghana at the time. A Nissan Patrol High Roof with registration number UWR 414. We were the young flamboyant happy couple of Ghana at the time.
Sure enough, evil, jealous eyes started casting curses and hexes at us. Fake prophets innundated us with demonic prophecies. There sure were challenges, but we endured.
Mrs Limata Yuri Baawine (Martha) and, I Kwaku Baawine at the height of our peak, were the greatest couple ever. God blessed us so instantly at every turn of our need you could see bible verses come to life.
No one is perfect in this life. But my wife, Martha was the greatest woman who so possitively and beneficially impacted my life.
Fare Thee Well, Mary Martha Well!
