Michael James Duncan's Obituary
Michael James Duncan, 67, of North Palm Beach, Florida, passed away on March 23, 2026.
Michael was born in Sarasota, Florida, to Richard and Bernadette Duncan. He built a life defined by hard work, generosity, and deep love for his family.
A respected leader in the marine construction industry, beginning in 1979, Michael founded and previously owned Duncan Seawall Dock & Boat Lift, Inc. in Sarasota, Florida, and helped grow it into a successful business before selling it. Michael was the current owner of Coast Seawall Dock & Boatlifts, Inc., in Jupiter, Florida. With a career spanning over four decades, he was known for his expertise, dedication, and the pride he took in his work.
Above all, Michael was a devoted husband, a loving and supportive father and grandfather, and a cherished friend to many. He was admired not only for his accomplishments, but for his kindness, strength, and the way he showed up for the people he loved.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lisa Duncan; his children, Dana Runager (husband Cherokee), Anna Duncan, and Lindsey Contreras (husband Mark); and Ty Mathews (wife Allison), Sammie Billman (husband Dan), Noah Mathews, and Eli Mathews; and his eight grandchildren: Corbin, Gabriel, Ava, Madison, Silas, Remy, Carson, and Savannah, who brought him immense pride and joy. He was preceded in death by his eldest sister, Susanne Duncan. He is survived by his brother Richard Duncan Jr. (wife Lisa); and his sister Theresa Alvord (husband Calvin). He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Brian, Erin, Coggin, Wade, Leah, and their families.
