Mr. Pasquale Benny Scarantino's Obituary
Mr. Pasquale B. Scarantino age 89 of Greenacres, Florida went home to be with the Lord on March 23, 2015. Pasquale was born on July 10, 1925 in Brooklyn, New York to his parents, Mr. Angelo Scarantino and Mrs. Josephine Scarantino. After graduation Pasquale joined the United States Armed Forces to serve and protect our Great Nation and he entered the US Navy on April 20, 1943 to fight in World War II. During the war he was sent to storm the beaches of Normandy and made it out alive without any major injuries sustained. Pasquale attained the rank of Coxswain and received several medals including: the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theatre Medal and the European Theatre Medal - 1 Star before being discharged honorably on July 9, 1946. He then re-enlisted in the US Naval Reserves from July 10, 1946 until he was released from duty on July 9, 1950. Pasquale worked in the Transportation Industry for a number of years as a Commercial Driver. He loved to drive and take in the sights and sounds and communicating with the people that he drove around in the city where he lived and worked. After retiring in 1985 from his job in Queens, New York as a Cab Driver, he moved his family to his new home in Greenacres, Florida. Pasquale loved to play a good round of Golf, play Baseball and watch and cheer on his favorite Team the New York Mets or going out to Bowl with his buddies after work. During his life he remained active and involved in all types of sports and recreational activities. He also loved to work on Word Puzzles, Paint by Numbers, Building Models or sketching and doodling on paper. He most of all loved spending time with his family and friends. Pasquale was a very kind, loving and giving person; he always placed others ahead of himself. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of sixty nine years Grace Scarantino, his two loved children, Sandra Oddo and Diana Haynes and husband, Mitchell; his four treasured grandchildren, Jarret Haynes, Krista Haynes, David Haynes and wife, Mayte and Jesse Oddo; two precious great grandchildren, Krishton Ramirez and Kayla Haynes; his adored sister, Josephine Howick and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service to Honor the Eternal Memory of Pasquale B. Scarantino will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Palm Beach Memorial Park Funeral Home, 3691 Seacrest Boulevard, Lantana, FL 33462, (561) 586-1237 with Pastor Mike Brummitt of Bethel Church in Lake Worth officiating. The United States Navy will present Military Honors to the family at 1:00 PM on Thursday, April 9, 2015 in the South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 South State Road 7, Lake Worth, FL 33449.
