Philomena "Phyllis" Faville's Obituary
Philomena “Phyllis” Faville, nee Di Matteo, age 91 of Delray Beach, FL passed away on November 9, 2012. Phyllis was born in Swarthmore, PA on March 3, 1921 and lived in Pennsylvania for 68 years until moving to Delaware in the ‘80’s then to Delray Beach, FL where she happily spent the final 20 years of her life at County Manors. She was the devoted mother of Jean (James) Jordon and Frances (Jeffrey) Carroll, grandmother of 6 and great-grandmother of 9. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Phyllis actively worked as a successful business woman for 40 plus years, was a volunteer teacher of CCD at Notre Dame de Lourdes Parrish School in Pennsylvania and, with her husband Frank, planned and oversaw trips and tours for the Senior Center at the same church. She played the organ at her church as a child and entertained family and friends in her home at Country Manors playing the organ eagerly and willingly for anyone who asked. Once in retirement she continued her volunteering by helping at the office of the Middletown, Delaware police department, additionally working with young children at the local kindergarten, as an active member of the Ladies Guild and choir at Emmanuel Parrish in Delray for many years and a member of the Women’s Club at Country Manors. She loved arts and crafts, lovingly made and donated many beautiful afghans, ceramics, beaded angels, supplies and her time. For all who knew and loved her, Phyllis was always ready with a helping hand for friends and strangers alike. She will always be remembered with love and devotion as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Beloved Mom, you will always be close in our minds and hearts. Farewell until we are together again. Her family requests donations to Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33407. Visitation will be Tuesday 10:00 AM at Emmanuel Catholic Church, Delray Beach. A funeral mass will follow at 11:00AM. Entombment will follow.
