Mr. Ralph Rodney Thonie's Obituary
Ralph Rodney Thonie age 82 of Boynton Beach, Florida passed away on November 18, 2014. Ralph was born on April 8, 1932 in Mountfern, New Jersey to his late father, Albert Thonie and his late moter, Mae (nee Werts) Thonie. Ralph attended Roxbury High School and graduated in 1949 and he was called to serve his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict era. After returning from the War Ralph met and married the love of his life, Martha (nee Saxton) Thonie and shortly thereafter began to raise his family of three daughters, Linda Sue, Kathryn Mae and Kimberly Ann Thonie. Ralph lived in the Succasunna, New Jersey area for the greater part of his life and worked for the Houdialle Construction Material Company in Kenville, New Jersey as a Cement Mixer Driver and Dispatcher for over twenty seven years. Ralph moved with his family to South Florida settling in the Boynton Beach area thirty six years ago coming from his former hometown of Succasunna, New Jersey. Ralph became a Master Mason at his home lodge Acacia Lodge #20 in Dover, New Jersey and most recently received his Fifty Year Membership Pin. He was also a member of the appendant body of the Amara Shrine Temple in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida and The Supreme Forest Tall Cedars of Lebanon of North America in New Jersey. Ralph was an avid philatelist forever searching for and collecting rare stamps. He also loved to go out Deep Sea Fishing and he enjoyed Roller Skating with his wife Martha in his younger years. Ralph will be forever honored and loved by his wife and children as the "BEST FATHER AND HUSBAND"! He will also be remembered by everyone whom knew and loved him as a "TRUE FRIEND AND COMRADE"! Ralph leaves behind to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife, Martha Thonie; his three loved children, Linda Sue Taetzsch and her husband, Richard, Kathryn Carpenter and her husband, Ricky and Kimberly Ann Bailes; his one treasured granddaughter, Erica Sue Carpenter, his admired sister, Orvaletta Hoffman; his loved sister-in-law, Everest Dennison and his step-brother, Russell Patery. A Visitation will be held on Friday, November 21, 2014 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Palm Beach Memorial Park Funeral Home, 3691 Seacrest Boulevard, Lantana, Florida 33462, (561) 586-1237. A Celebration of Life Service for Ralph Rodney Thonie will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church of Boynton Beach, 235 S.W. 6th Avenue, Boynton Beach, Florida 33435, (561) 732-3774 with Pastor Roger Verse officiating. The United States Navy will present Military Honors on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church of Boynton Beach to the family of Ralph Rodney Thonie. Entombment and Christian Burial Rites will take place at Palm Beach Memorial Park Mausoleum, 3691 Seacrest Boulevard, Lantana, Florida 33462, (561) 585-6444 and concluding services by the Members of the Boynton Masonic Lodge #236 presenting Masonic Burial Rites for Ralph Rodney Thonie at his final resting place. The family has suggested that in lieu of expressions of sympathy, donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Boynton Beach Building Fund, 235 S.W. 6th Avenue, Boynton Beach, Florida 33435, (561) 732-3774 in Loving Memory of Ralph Rodney Thonie.
