Rita Marie Codella's Obituary
Rita Marie Codella (née Tauriello), 87, of Boynton Beach, Florida passed away peacefully on June 21, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Rita was born on January 30, 1937, to the late Joseph and Teresina Tauriello in Newark, NJ. As a child, she adored her grandfather and would spend most every weekend riding horses at his farm in Bernardsville, NJ. After graduating from St. Vincent’s Academy in Newark NJ, Rita worked as an administrative assistant for March of Dimes and Donnelly Brothers Insurance Co. She later met and married her husband, Leonard Codella from Bayonne, NJ.
After the birth of her first child, she dedicated her life to being a loving and devoted wife and mother, caring for her children and family, all of whom will forever be grateful for her sacrifices. Coming from a large, close knit Italian family, she followed in her mother’s footsteps by becoming a fabulous cook and loved when family and friends gathered around her dining room table on weekends and holidays. The laughs, love, food and memories shared around that table will forever live on through her family. Rita was a devout servant to her Roman Catholic faith and immensely involved in her church, including teaching catechism and becoming a Eucharistic Minister. She loved to crochet, always making beautiful blankets for family and friends, and for the past several years, made countless blankets for our Veterans. She also loved her westerns and was a fountain of knowledge when it came to western movie trivia!
Predeceased by her parents and her beloved husband Leonard, Rita’s memory will be cherished and kept alive by her brother, Maurice Tauriello, children Leonard Codella, III and his wife Joy, Teresa Lovitz and her husband Fred, Maria Hadler and her husband Nelson, her grandchildren Keith LaBadie and his wife Brooke, Rita Stanciu and her husband Jonel, Leonard Codella IV, Jenna Codella, great-granddaughters Bella LaBadie and Teresina Stanciu, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be held privately by her family.
Should friends and family desire, contributions in her memory may be made to Trustbridge Hospice of Palm Beach County: https://trustbridge.com/give/
