Robert L. Corveleyn's Obituary
BOYNTON BEACH, FL - Robert L. Corveleyn “4 o’clock Bob”, 96, formerly of South Plainfield, NJ has passed away in his home on Saturday evening, February 8, 2025. He was the son of Francois M. Corveleyn, Sr., and Rhoda Rosalie De marteliere, both predeceased. Bob was predeceased by his loving wife, Dolores R. (Wiatroski) Corveleyn. He is survived by his son, Robert L. Corveleyn, Jr. (Suzanne), his daughter, Nancy M. Corveleyn (fiancée Jim Davis) and a son, Glen P. Corveleyn. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Nicole Marshall (George), Crystal Corveleyn (Dennis Gilbert), Lauren Corveleyn (Kevin Tighe), Tara Della Fave (Salvatore), Evan Merritt and Kyle Merritt. Bob had eleven great grandchildren: Isabella, Lilliana, Steeler, Marchi, Olivia, Teagan, Kaiden, Michael, Sal, Ryan and Cassandra. Bob was also survived by brothers in law, William Wiatroski and Gregory Wiatroski (Karen). Bob was also predeceased by his siblings, Frank M. Corveleyn, Jr. (Mildred), John Corveleyn (Karen, not deceased), Rhoda M. Cappello (Benedict, not deceased), and predeceased by brother-in-law Robert Wiatroski. Predeceased by a nephew, Kevin Corveleyn and is survived by many nieces and nephews with special mention of his nephew, Eric Corveleyn, who was like a son to him.
Bob got the nickname “4 o’clock Bob” due to going to the pool at 4:00 every day! Many of his friends in Sterling Village only knew him by his nickname.
Bob had a larger-than-life personality, his presence filled a room with laughter, light and he always had a good joke to tell. He loved his family and friends above all, and had a strong passion for antique cars, especially the Model A Ford. He had restored more that 5 Model A’s from bottom to top. He had owned at least 26 antique cars, a true hobby that became his passion. He belonged and was president of the Model A Ford Club of NJ. He belonged to the Antique Automobile Club of America, the Model A Ford Club of America and the Running Board A’s. He loved driving his Model A’s all over the Eastern United States.
Robert left school at 16 to join the United States Navy from 1944-1947 working in the engine rooms of the USS Kearsarge and the USS Midway.
Robert was a carpenter in NJ Local #620 out of Madison, NJ. Robert was co-founder of the R.A.D. Corporation, Overhead Door Distributors from 1956 until his retirement in 2006.
