Sarah Magdalena Lopez's Obituary
Sarah Magdalena Lopez, age 94, of West Palm Beach, FL, passed away on August 26, 2025, in her home.
Sarah was born on May 25, 1931, in Artemisa, Pinar del Rio, Cuba, to Sarah Bolumen and Francisco Bolumen. She graduated from Las Madres Escopales school in Artemisa, Cuba, and later worked as a pharmacy clerk and a teacher’s assistant.
Sarah married Oscar Lopez in 1953, and together they had a daughter named Josefina. Sarah and her family left Cuba in 1968 to start a new life in the United States. They lived briefly in Providence, RI, for a few years before moving to West Palm Beach, FL, where she remained until her death. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was known for her delicious cooking. She also enjoyed swimming, playing piano, running track, and skating during her youth.
Sarah is survived by her daughter, Josefina (Cosme) Vidal; sister, Teresa; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jossie, and Daniel; as well as several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
A memorial service will be held on September 20th at 11:00 am at St. Luke Catholic Church. Ashes will be interred at the Palm Beach Memorial Cemetery at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association in Sarah’s memory.
