Stephen Rimar's Obituary
Rimar, Stephen
Stephen “Steve” Rimar, 94, of Boynton Beach passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 18, 2018. Steve was born on September 5, 1923 in Fords, NJ to Anna and Stephen Rimar Sr. He attended Rutgers School of Pharmacy at the age of 17, however, was drafted into the Army within a year and his school plans were put on hold. After the war he returned to Pharmacy School and graduated in 1949.
In that same year he started his first job as a Pharmacist at Boyt Drug Store in Metuchen, NJ and started dating Helen which he married on September 23, 1950. Soon after they purchased Jamesburg Pharmacy and moved to the apartment above the store. A catastrophic fire caused them to lose everything they owned and had to start all over again in life. A new store was built with the house behind it and Steve continued to work here until retiring in 1987.
In 1987 he retired and purchased a home with Helen in Leisureville in Boynton Beach, Fl. He became active in his church, Holy Apostles Byzantine Church, passed his State of Fl Pharmacy boards and continued to work part time. He made many friends and enjoyed playing Pinochle twice a week at the Clubhouse. He lived in the same house and remained married to Helen for almost 68 years.
Steve is survived by his loving and devoted wife Helen, his daughter Julieann (Lois) of Lantana and his son, Stephen III (Joan) of Hamden, Ct. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Liz (Tim) and Christine (John) of New York and Kelli (George) of Orlando. In addition, he is survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as many friends in the Boynton Beach area.
Family and friends are invited to visitation and remembrance on Sunday, July 22 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Palm Beach Memorial Funeral Home, 3691 Seacrest Boulevard, Lantana, Fl. Ph: (561) 585-6444. A Funeral service will be held on Monday, July 23, at the Palm Beach Memorial Funeral Home followed by burial in the Mausoleum on the grounds.
