Suzanne Elizabeth Clarke's Obituary
Suzanne Elizabeth Clarke, 83, of South Palm Beach, Florida passed away on August 7, 2023. Suzanne was born on March 20, 1940, in Mineola, New York. She was an only child who was raised by her beloved Mother Elizabeth "Betty" Harrison.
While growing up on Long Island, she was a favorite among her Aunties and Uncles who all lovingly referred to her as "Kit." After High School, she had the opportunity to live in Coral Gables with her favorite "Ant" Eleanor & Uncle Bob who took great care of her while she attended the University of Miami.
Not long after she was back in NY she met Jimmy through a friend and the rest as they say is history! Jimmy & Suzanne married and moved to .... Mineola! Jimmy quickly proved himself to be a Wonderkind of Wall St as they welcomed Nancy & Debbie into the world. They moved to Garden City and Tim was soon to follow.
After 12 amazing years together, Jimmy died in a tragic accident and Suzanne was left to raise the kids on her own. And what an amazing job she did dedicating her life to raising her kids on her own with love, compassion and the same beauty and grace with which she lived her own life. And her children will be forever grateful for the personal sacrifices she made along the way. There can never be enough said about the gift she gave her children in raising them with the energy of two people and infinite love.
Once the children were on their own, Suzanne went on to earn a degree in Ornamental Horticulture from SUNY Farmingdale. She learned about all of those things she was so passionate about - Flowers, plants, trees - she loved to bring plants and flowers to life from seed. She would care for them as if they were her own children! It was something she took with her until her last day.
She moved to Florida and fell in love with her happy place in South Palm Beach where she made lifelong friends with neighbors and fellow members of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Suzanne found a new passion here and thrived in Holy Spirit's community. It motivated her to join The Legion Of Mary where she became a Eucharistic Minister. She spent many days visiting people in local assisted living facilities to bring them communion, keep them company and praying with them. It gave her an amazing feeling of happiness. As her health declined she stayed close to home but in that time stayed close to God and her love of Mary. Her children, grandchildren, sisters and brothers in law, nieces & nephews, and friends one and all will miss Suzanne greatly. They'll miss her beauty and grace, her love and support and perhaps most of all her smile and ever infectious laugh.
