Sylvia A Morken's Obituary
Sylvia Annette Dopson was born in Westby, WI on December 13, 1935, the only child of Alton & Lillian Dopson. She graduated from Westby High School in 1952 and attended college nearby. Sylvia married Oscar T. Holter on Oct. 29, 1955, in Westby, Wisconsin. Oscar and Sylvia served at churches in Kasson, Minnesota; Mt. Sterling, Wisconsin; Orfordville, Wisconsin and Newark Illinois. Sylvia loved music and while in Mt. Sterling formed a Christian musical group called “Christ’s Crusaders “featuring her sons Dan and Tim along with three young women from the church.
In October 1989, Sylvia married James Morken in Aurora, Illinois. They moved to Boynton Beach FL in 1992. Sylvia relished God’s natural beautiful creations, especially the abundance in Florida. Sylvia also loved her pets, of which she had several throughout her life. She had an unending fondness of playing games always with a smart competitive spirit.
Sylvia was a member of Royal Palm Presbyterian Church. She was a passionate, steadfast Christian who cherished her faith and family and strived daily to serve the Lord Jesus Christ.
Sylvia and Oscar had 4 sons, Daniel Holter of Milwaukee, WI; Timothy Holter (David Harvey) of Honolulu, HI; Stephen (Kerri) Holter of Winter Garden, FL and David (Dolores) Holter. Also survived by her stepdaughters, Carol Morken (Graham Terrell) of Oak Park, IL and Olivia Duncan; stepson, Bruce (Claudia) Morken of Oswego, IL; grandchildren, Jake & Emma Holter; step grandchildren, Glenn (Jani) Anderson, Christina (Wayne) Daring, Faith (Shaun) Hays, Julie (Jeremy) Elzerman, Rachel (Fernando) Santillan and 6 great grandchildren. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents Alton and Lillian Dopson and her husband, James Morken. She will be missed dearly by all.
