Viola V. Gonzales' Obituary
Viola V. Gonzales, Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Sister stepped through Heaven's Gate on August 2, 2014 with her family by her bedside. Viola began her earthly journey on June 11, 1931 in the city of San Benito, Texas to her eagerly awaiting parents, the late Mr. Parjas Vela and the late Mrs. Poala (nee Salas) Vela. Then she moved to the town of Sebastian, Texas where she began raising her family and in nineteen sixty four she moved to the Delray Beach, Florida area to enjoy the ocean and the warm South Florida environment. Viola was a devout Catholic and loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, regularly worshipping with her children and family at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Delray Beach. Some of Viola's other loves was cooking gourmet meals for her family including such dishes as her "World Famous Tamales" and her "Delectable Tortas"; playing Mexican Bingo at the local Bingo Parlor; going fishing and catching "the One that almost got away"; creating beautiful crafts for her family and friends, such as hand painted figurines or sewing designer clothing and furnishings for her family; she also loved listening to and singing Gospel Music; traveling with her family to Texas, Michigan and Ohio on road trips; and working jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles and word search; and finally spending quality time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Some of Viola's traits included being an independent woman, stern yet loving, the family disciplinarian, creating order out of chaos whenever necessary, and knowing when to share a joke and light up a smile on your face with her jokester ways and smiling face. She could be the life of the Party when she wanted to have fun with her family and friends. However, you never wanted to be in the aim of that eagle eye look of hers, especially if you were on the short end of the draw; due to misbehaving, doing something wrong or what she felt was out of the way. All of these things added up to her greatness as a mother, grandmother and great grandmother; she lived up to the Holy Words as written in the book of Proverbs 31:10-31 regarding the ways of a "Virtuous Woman". Viola did not walk alone through "Heaven's Gate" for you see her beloved husband, Faustino Gonzales, Sr. has been waiting for her since January of 1974 and her beloved daughter, Anna Gonzales has been waiting for her since 1978 to hold her hand and lead her through the entrance into "God's Majestic Kingdom". So the words were spoken unto Viola on that day, "Well done my faithful servant, so are the riches of heaven your inheritance. For you have run the race, kept the faith; and so set forth for you is a crown of righteousness for my namesake. Welcome into my Heavenly Kingdom and may this Celestial Palace forever be your place of abode". She will be forever honored and loved by her loving and devoted children, Faustino, Rosa, Olga, Norma, Amy, Erma, Yolanda, Ray, Eleazar, Israel, Sulema, Rudy and Minerva; her thirty eight adored grandchildren; her three adored sisters and five admired brothers; her sixty six precious great grandchildren and her three treasured great great grandchildren. Gonzales will begin gathering and greeting guests from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at the Palm Beach Memorial Park, Funeral Home, 3691 Seacrest Boulevard, Lantana, Florida 33462, (561) 586-1237.
