Walter Leopold Mitchell's Obituary
Walter Leopold Mitchell, of Royal Palm Beach, lived a long, festive and adventurous life. Born on June 9, 1929, Walter, or “Mitch” as many people called him, grew up in the lush mountains of St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. Once he finished school, he traveled to Kingston to enlist in the Jamaican army. After leaving the army, he worked as a life insurance agent. In 1965, he migrated to the U.S., landing a job with TWA as a crew chief of ground service in Chicago. He moved to Miami in the mid-1980’s. Mitch retired from TWA in 1994 and later went to work for Home Depot until his retirement at the prime age of 85. Mitch passed away on December 26, 2016, surrounded by his family, and is survived by his wife and four children. He will be missed as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, brother-in-law, father-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend.
