Wanda Wulf's Obituary
Wanda Wulf was born Wanda Gertz in Gross Paprutsch, Poland on March 23, 1929. Her parents were Rudolf Gertz and Emilie (Bilow) Gertz. She had five siblings: Arthur, Leida, Hilda, Lucie, and Rudy. All but Lucie predeceased her.
Due to WWII, Wanda fled to Western Germany (near Bremen). In 1950, she was able to emigrate to the United States with the assistance of her Uncle Ludwig Bilow. She later married and helped to bring over to the US someone that she had met in Western Germany – Udo Mueller in 1951.
Upon arriving in the United States, she worked first as a house keeper and then as a seamstress in a “sweat shop” in NYC. She saved up enough money and eventually bought a motel in Lindenhurst, NY (Long Island).
Wanda later met Heinz Wulf who was also a German emigrant. They were married in 1967. Heinz preceded her in death. She moved to Lake Worth, Florida in 1972-73 where she bought a motel that was slightly run down. She did well in the motel business and ultimately owned three motels and an apartment building in Lake Worth. She served on the Chamber of Commerce and was an active member at OSL.
Wanda was a very religious person and she was very interested in expanding her understanding of the mysteries of Christianity. In her life, she travelled widely. Among her favorite trips were a trip to Egypt and a trip to Israel where she was baptized in the Jordan River.
She used her money to support Christian causes that were near to her heart. Wanda was an avid ballroom dancer but her family, Christianity and her businesses were her primary passions.
Wanda's son Errol preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory her son Henry and a host of friends and family. She will me missed by all that knew and loved her.
