This is from Kathy Mayo, Edgar and Nora's granddaughter, in Fort Myers.

Being around Bill and Dorothy was always a great experience - both as a child and, later, as I grew up. He brought so much joy to any occasion.

Years ago, my mom, Theo, and I were at the movies in Miami Beach and looked up to see Bill in a Newsreel from Germany. Before the days of instant access to news that was quite an experience: our Bill on the big screen.

I loved to spend time in Ormond with Aunt Lottie and get to hear the latest about all the Cushings. She was so proud of all of you and would have been amazed that Bill lived such a long life.

Bill is a model for a life well lived. I feel fortunate to have been a small part of his.

This is from Herman Rusch, a friend of dad's for 50 years.

Bill was a wonderfull, terrific, human individual, and an exceptional friendl!
I met him summer 1959 in Moscow on our 3 month assignment at the American Exhibition and we became friends. During his later stay in Boeblingen, Germany, his Family visited our home on a regular basis and we got to know his lovely wife and nice children. During our 2 years in New York, we excangend multiple visits. My wife Gabriele and Dorothy became friends as wel,l and we all enjoyed many parties and Bills musical talents. Frequently, we spent vacations together either in Boca Raton, or with Bill and Dorothy traveling in Germany, Ireland, London and Austria. My daughter, Doris, and her family visited Bill in 2017, during their vacation in Florida, and for my granddaughter the best part of her vacation was swimming in Bills pool, not Disneyworld. Until recently, our relationship went on via the Internet or telephone. It is very sad, that I cannot execute a promise I made to Bill when we talked on his 99th birthday. I planned to come and see him in Boca for his 100th.

We mourn with you, Tom, now the last Cushing.

We are so sad that Bill passed away.
We have been good friends. We met him and his lovely wife Dorothy first
in 1990 in the Irish Cottage Pub in Boca Raton. He loved to sing and play his mouth organ. From 1990 to 1996 we often had good times together in the pub and on our last St. Patrick ’s Day in 1996 before we returned to Germany..
He and Dorothy visited us in 1999 in Munich and we met him the last time in 2007 during
our trip back form my son’s wedding in Bogota via Boca Raton to Germany

He and his wife Dorothy will be in our minds forever.

I have so many wonderful memories of Bill & Dorothy visiting mom & dad, Russell & Avis Cushing in Ormond Beach. My friend and I would take Mom, Aunt Dorothy and Aunt Net up to the outlet mall in St Augustine and we would spend the whole day there. Several years before that our musical family would have parties at Aunt Rosalie's & Uncle Harold's house, in their music room with the organ & piano and so many playing their own instruments - such a great time.

We have been blessed to have had Bill as our neighbor for 52 years. He was a great friend. We celebrated many occasions together. We loved hearing him entertain us with stories and his musical talent. We will dearly miss him.
