Cari was in many was an aunt to me. My parents and I met her in church about 25 years ago, and we all became fast friends. It helped that we were all Cuban. Throughout all my joys and sorrows, Cari was always available to listen. I remember calling her on the way to work early in the mornings, distressed and “down” about life, and unfailingly she always offered me support and prayers. She loved Cuban music, dancing, and politics. We didn’t always agree on the latter. We shared a strong Christian faith. We would pray for each others’ families and the world and ourselves. She loved her daughters Yvonne and Michelle, and took enormous pride in their strength and fortitude. She adored her grandchildren and great granddaughter. I will miss being able to call her and talk to her about anything! I will miss sitting at the piano and hearing her and my late mother and father sing hymns. She loved to dance! Her passing has left a whole in my heart, but many memories to fill it!
