Rowland W. Wood, Sr., 81 passed away after a battle with cancer peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on August 21, 2017
Born in Pennsylvania on September 29, 1935 he then moved in 1942 to Palm Beach County. After graduation he went to school to be a plumber where he was a member of Local Union 630. In 1980 he started Able Plumbing in Lake Worth, Fl. After he retired he made The Florida Keys his home for the next 25 years and began yet another venture in the commercial fishing and lobster business. He was loved by many and enjoyed being with his family.
Rowland is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Gail Bowe Wood, two sons Rowland Wood, Jr. (Kim), Kenneth Wood (Peggy), Five Grandchildren Jason Wood, Danny Wood (Lisa), Krissy Gills (Bryan), Lindsey Barker (Jeffrey), Kenneth Wood, Jr. Eight Great Grandchildren Dillyn, Dustin & Caden Wood, Corey & Avery Wood, Cameron & Sadie Gills and one baby girl (Barker) on the way. Sister Joan Star (Jack), Sister In-law Beverly Harris and many nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death by his mother and father Katherine & Wallace Wood and George & Sis Bowe.
A Memorial Service Saturday will be held, August 26 at 11:00 am. At Palm Beach Memorial Park Funeral Home 3691 N. Seacrest Blvd. Lantana, FL. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Trust Bridge Hospice WPB, Fl Rowland W. Wood, Sr.
