Bill Shumelda and Ebenezer Paiki were the first people from whom I sought advice in 1979 when I was making the transition from an advanced life support paramedic to law enforcement. At the time, Bill was involved in the Law Enforcement Applicant Processing Center that a number of local agencies relied on to appropriately select the best candidates for their openings.His demeanor and sincerity impressed me immensely. I am sorry to see that he has moved on to his next assignment, but I am glad that his family was able to have him for as many years as they have. I am not surprised that they have asked for donations to be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital- Bill is smiling from the other side....
